Description

When Adam and Chava eat from the Eitz HaDaat, the reality of tov and rah, of good and evil, fundamentally changes. We now not only have the capacity to choose and fully connect with tov or rah, but tov and rah are mixed into each other in a way that can make it almost impossible to distinguish between the two. We explore the complexities of this post-sin reality and the conflicting motivations it produces inside each one of us. We then track the conflict between tov and rah as it proceeds throughout the rest of the Parsha, where rah seemingly prevails and the world descends into chaos before having to be wiped out by the mabul in Parshat Noach. (Part of HaMidrasha at QC, OU-JLIC's Torah learning program for women at Queens College.)
