Description

In the Midrash on Shir HaShirim we seek to present both our serious predicament on Yom Kippur and a possible resolution. This will be based upon Chazal's interpretation of the verses מים רבים לא יוכלו לכבות את האהבה and אחות לנו קטנה. Hashem's love for Israel is compared to the love of a parent for a young child. But can we expect that we can be serious about presenting ourselves to Hashem on the Day of Judgement as a young, irresponsible child? In all honesty, we are mature adults and must be held responsible for our shortcomings and iniquities. How can we genuinely claim: we are קטנים? To answer this question we will study an essay from the Sefer המה ינחמוני.
