How can we reconcile the contradiction in the Rambam regarding the mitzva of Yiras Hashem? On the one hand, the Rambam codifies the mitzva of Yirah and tells us how - step by step - we are meant to achieve this great mitzva. Yet the Rambam in Hilchos Teshuva downgrades service of Hashem thru Yirah. This should be avoided insofar as it is a low level - fear of punishment - which is appropriate for the intellectually weak. This hardly reflects the writings of the Rambam describing the greatness of Yirah. We will study the insights of the Pachad Yitzchok as well as the Mishnas Aaron.
