We continue our project of comparing & contrasting the laws that govern Meleches Shabos with the universal laws that apply to the rest of Halacha. The differences reflect the concept of מלאכת מחשבת which is unique to Hilchos Shabos. Why does a Get written with one's left hand qualify, whilst a left handed writing on Shabos does not constitute a Melacha? We will analyze the concept of Meleches Machsheves not only with regard to writing, but also with regard to חצי שעור, e.e he carried less than a גרוגרת. Is the latter a deficiency in Meleches Machsheves? Or is it another case of Chatzi Shiur?
