Modern Jewish history in Israel has witnessed both the Jewish settlement of Gush Katif & the expulsion of Jews from that location. In this shiur we seek to investigate whether that area is part of the Land of Israel. Our study is not limited to the issue of those mitzvot - like Teruma & Shemitta - which are contingent upon the sanctity of the Land, but includes the question of the mitzva to settle the Land, is Gaza included in the Land? We will introduce 4 different categories of land on the earth. Eretz Yisrael is divided into 3 categories: the Land promised to Avraham, the Land conquered by Yehoshua - the boundaries of which are delineated in our Parsha, & the land settled by the עולי בבל at the time of Ezra & Nechemya.
