Description

In this Parsha & Halacha shiur for Parshas Matos we will study the concept of כתיבה כדיבור: Is a written vow or pledge Halachically binding? Does writing the day of the Omer constitute a fulfillment of the Mitzva of Sefirat HaOmer? If as a member of a Kehilla they sign you up on a document committing yourself not to speak about mundane matters in the synagogue or not to use a cellphone, does that signature constitute a binding oath according to Halacha? Is writing during davening a Hefsek? Can a scribe fulfill his Mitzva of reading the Megilla by writing one? May one recite Birchas HaTorah when he writes Torah? Can a mute fulfill the Beracha when he writes one? Why is written testimony disqualified? These & other q's will be addressed.
