Description

In this Halacha & Hashkafa shiur for Parshas Chukas we will discuss an important element in Para Aduma, namely the Rambam's revolutionary idea that one who was never Tamei is not as great as one who was Tamei & purified himself. We will study the insight of Rav Yosef Engel regarding the Halacha established by the MIshna that the Kohen who was in charge of burning the Para would be deliberately defiled and would immerse in the Mikveh and then burn the Para. This would defy the understanding of the Tzedukim that disqualified a "t'vul yom"regarding the Parah until after sunset. But why change the Halacha for the sake of denying the position of the Tzedukim? We must rely on the principle established by the Rambam.
