Description

Our goal for this Parsha & Hashkafa shiur for Parshiyot Shelach & Korach, is to analyze the sin of the Meraglim & connect it to the sin of Korach. The Meraglim were faced with a dilemma: to whom did they owe their allegiance? They were sent on their mission (שליחות) by both Moshe (who had received the command from Hashem) & by the People who had desired to appoint their representatives to spy the Land. Who comes first, God or the People? Out of their sense of loyalty & responsibility to the People of Israel, the Meraglim decided to accept the role of agency on behalf of the People. But the People were motivated by a spirit of rebellion to spy the Land. Their sin of 'dropping' Moshe for the People prepared the way for Korach's rebellion.
