Description

This is a Hashkafa & Mussar shiur regarding the study of Torah. We will establish that Torah study, like prayer, requires permission, i.e. a מתיר, a license. In the balance of the shiur we will study an essay from the Tolna Rebby regarding what are we meant to learn from Rebby Akiva about Torah study? Why was he so harsh with Yehuda bar Nachmani? We will compare and contrast R' Akiva & his older college Rebby Tarfon. What was common to both in their approach to Torah? In the last part of this shiur we will raise the following question: why the great significance of Kabbalas HaTorah when our ancestors declared נעשה ונשמע since shortly afterwards came the worship of the Egel? We must take a message re: raising children and teaching students.
