In this intro to Pirkey Avot we will discuss the controversy between the Bartenura & the Maharal re: Is there a Mesorah for Middot and Mussar? Another issue to be addressed: Could anyone have received Hashem's Torah? Or was it Moshe & only Moshe? We will raise a question about Mesechet Avot: is it an embellishment of a Mitzva of the Torah? Or is the subject of this Masechet irrelevant to any of the Mitzvot? These and other issues will be addressed.
