In this shiur we seek to reveal deeper meanings into the prayer on Mondays & Thursdays: ק-ל ארך אפיים. We will delve into the meaning of the Holy Name ק-ל, is it harsh judgement or extreme compassion? This will give us an insight into the 13 attributes of Mercy as well as the Parshas Para, the Para Aduma of Parshas Chukas. We will analyze the writings of a number of the commentaries on Tefilla as collected by HaRan Olbaum shlita. The aggadeta in Masechet Berachot regarding the daily 'moment' of Divine 'anger', the רגע של זעם will take on a new meaning. The source for this momentary anger is the Name ק-ל; this is paradoxical since this Name does not reflect anger but rather compassion. We will try to reconcile this seeming contradiction.
