In this Hashkafa shiur for VaYakhel we seek to understand why the Mitzva to build the Mishkan is suspended on Shabbos. To answer this question we will present an insight into the essence of Shabbos based upon an essay in the Sefer המה ינחמחני. Work done on Shobbas is antithetical to that essence & cannot be tolerated even for the sake of building the Mikdash. The latter requires absolute unity in Klal Yisrael; all participate in the same way in this joint effort. It is only later, when the Mishkan is up and running, is the Avodah an endeavor which requires differentiation with each group playing a distinct role. Why is salt added to the Korbanot? We will study the חידוש of Ari za"l re: the תפוח which we achieve on Shabbos. This equals ויחן
