Description

Every single year we read Parshat Vaetchanan on Shabbat Nachamu. What does Nechama really mean? What is the connection between Nechama and Parshat Vaetchanan? Using this as a starting point, we explore how the entirety of Sefer Deverim overlaps with the Zayin D'Nechemata, Elul, Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Sukkot, and Simchat Torah. We show how Sefer Devarim is the critical narrative that binds together these stages in the Jewish year, which begin with Parshat Veetchanan and one very powerful word: Nechama. (Part of HaMidrasha at QC, OU-JLIC's Torah learning program for women at Queens College.)
