The sugya in Masechet Ketuvot 18b addresses the case of witnesses whose signatures appear on the document who together with the borrower admit that the Shtar is authentic but yet claim the Shtar to be invalid for any of a variety of reasons. Does the admission automatically validate the Shtar? Should we believe the עדם despite their admission with the credibility of a פה שאסר? Should we believe the borrower to clail פרעתי since he has a מיגו if there is no קיום on the Shtar? These and other questions will be addressed here.
