Description

The detailed list of Yaakov's family descending to Egypt (Gen. 46) is odd and raises a number of questions - both ancillary and essential about the narrative of the Torah. This shiur surveys the text, raises a number of classical questions and suggests a lens through which to view the list which addresses some, if not all, of the problems.
