Description

Yaakov's departure from Lavan should lead him, per our expectations, to Luz-Beitel and from there to Hevron. Instead, he eventually makes his way to Sh'khem; not only settling in there, but also settling down, buying real estate. What is the pull of Sh'khem and why does it continue to attract us - Yoseph's brothers herd there, we are commanded to ascend there when we first enter the land, Rehovam goes there to be crowned...What is it about Sh'khem?
