Description

We begin with the statement of the Ramban on Parshas Toldos that Avraham Avinu knew the entire Torah through the medium of רוח הקודש. We seek to study the concept of Ruach HaKodesh then & now. What is the relationship between this concept & prophecy? Is it equivalent to, or greater than a בת קול? Did Ruach Hakodesh terminate with the termination of prophecy? Yet we find statements that indicate that the Tana'im, like R' Akiva & others, had Ruach Hakodesh! One of the Rishonim, the Ra'avad, describes the 'Ruach HaKodesh that appeared in our Beis Medrash over the past few years'. The rashba describes a wad of pages of chidushim that were apparently written with Ruach HaKodesh. The Meiri contrasts prophecy & Ruach HaKodesh.
