Description

Chapters 18 and 19 of Beresheet present the reader with a number of difficulties: Why the need for a second annunciation? Why did Avraham stop his "negotiations" at 10? Why do we need to hear the sordid story of Lot's incestuous relations with his daughters? Once we view these two chapters as a single unit - following the Masoretic division of the text - an approach is developed which not only answers these questions (and more) but also presents an argument for the significance of this narrative.
