Description

We continue our analysis of the important tool: Ma'aseh Mitzva & Kiyum HaMitzva as part of our shiurim on Derech HaLimud. We seek to understand when & how to generate a 'bona fide' Ma'aseh Mitzva, and as a result to establish a Birachat HaMitzva on a Minhag? In general we do not recite a blessing over a minhag as the sugya in Succah establishes re: חיבוט ערבה on Hoshana Rabba. But there are exceptions to this rule. The Brisker Rav establishes that the issue of a Minhag is not the וצונו since the Rambam combines minhagim with Mitzvot DeRabanan under the obligation of fulfilling the authority of the Rabbis. We will suggest that - as Reb Chaim established - the Beracha is on the Ma'aseh Mitzva, and which Minhag has a recognized, legal Ma'aseh?
