Description

The Parsha opens with Korach challenging the leadership of Moshe and Aharon in a strong and painful way. We find that the core concept that the Parsha revolves around is machloket (argument). We learn from the Mishnah in Pirkei Avot that there is a type of machloket that is positive and l’shem shamayim and a type of machloket that is negative and not l’shem shamayim. We investigate the origins and nature of the concept of machloket and analyze what makes a machloket l’shem shamayim as opposed to a machloket that is not l’shem shamayim.
