Description

On the surface, Chet HaMeraglim (the Sin of the Spies) caused the Jewish people to wander the desert for 40 years and cost the entire generation their lives. On a deeper level, Chet HaMeraglim was the first disaster to take place on Tisha B’Av, planting the seeds for the destruction of the Beit HaMikdash and thousands of years of exile. What was so severe about Chet HaMeraglim that it set into motion such horrifying events? We explore the deep issues underlying the Sin of the Spies, trace them as far back and Chet Adam HaRishon and as current as today, and see how the Parsha itself begins to pave a path to redemption. (Part of HaMidrasha at QC, OU-JLIC's Torah learning program for women at Queens College)
