Description
We'll begin with the classical perspective re: this mitzva: the Beracha is represents man's responsibility to express gratitude to Hashem. However, a number of strange things about this mitzva will leave of wondering if we're not missing something. Why is this mitzva given within the framework of שבח ארץ ישראל? Why is there a seperate warning in the Torah concerning this Mitzva? Why the unusual minimal requirement of a כביצה as opposed to the classical כזית that defines Achila in all Dinim? Why does a drunk person recite this Beracha as opposed to Tefilla? Why does the Tur establish a relationship between this Beracha and remembering the end of all men? Why is one required to recite this blessing within a short time following his meal?
