Description

A Halacha shiur for Parshas Baha'aloscha; the parsha presents the mitzva of equipping the Hechal with a lit menorah. Similarly on a weekly basis there is an obligation to equip the house with Shabbos candles, as part of the mitzva of Oneg Shabbos. Is this obligation incumbent upon her, him, or both? How many candles should be lit? What if she did not light on a particular Erev Shabbos? Why impose upon her a קנס? Would this penalty apply even if she lit 1 or more candles but she lit less that the # she usually lights? What is the basis for the minhag to light 2 candles? Why would the woman of the house have a special responsibility re: this mitzva? Is the essence of this mitzva the act of lighting or generating light in the house? נפק"מ.
