Emor Naso

Description

In this shiur for Parshat Emor we wish to compare the sanctity of the Kohen to that of the Nazir, and the best way of doing so would be to analyze the prohibition of contact with the dead in these two cases. The Heter of a kohen in the case of the 7 relatives has no parallel in Nazir; in the latter case the Torah enjoins the Nazir from contact with the dead even for the sake of the burial of one of his close relatives. In this shiur we will try to understand the view of the Chachamim that the sanctity of the kohen supersedes that of the Nazir despite the Heter for a Kohen to contaminate himself for the burial of one of his close relatives.
