Description

In this Parsha & Halacha shiur, we will address the question of the status of kohanim in our time. Back in the day a Kohen could trace his יוחסין back to an ancestor who served in the Mikdash. This would establish with certainty the חזקת כהונה and there would be no shadow of a doubt as to the status of the Kohen. However in our day kohanim cannot trace their lineage as far back as the service in the Mikdash. Is their status equivalent to a חזקת ודאי or is their status one of ספק? We will study the two approaches to this issue and the implications LeHalacha.
