For Masechet Chulin 104b, we will analyze the status of כלי שני regarding בליעת איסור. We will focus on the case of a milchig knife that was recently used to cut hot cheese & was now used to slice hot meat in a kli sheini. Would we need 60x in the meat against the milk? Or shall we be lenient and suffice with קליפה since the meat was in a כלי שני? We will study Tos' in Shabbat 40b who establishes that there is no real difference between the first kli that was on the fire & the 2nd kli that was never on the fire. In both cases the food was sufficiently hot to qualify for בליעה. The difference lies in the situation of the walls of the kli. Are they maintaining the heat or cooling down the hot food? This will impact upon the חומרת המהרש"ל.
