In May, 2011 we offered a 2-part series on the topic of kavana in Mitzvos (recorded on this site). Here we will address the Halachik/practical application of the concepts we discussed back then. Do we accept the view that Mitzvos Tzrichos Kavana? If one has doubts as to whether or not he had performed his mitzva with kavana, must he repeat his performance? Can he add a 2nd Safek, namely how do we pasken on this issue of kavana? Is there a difference between a Mitzva DeOraisa & a Mitzva Derabanan? Are all mitzvos the same? What about a Mitzva of דיבור or a mitzva of מחשבה? We will analyze the breakthrough of the Chayei Adam that maintains that only re: a mitzva that was performed for a purpose other than the mitzva do we doubt his kavana.
