Description

In this shiur for Parshat Beshalach al pi Ramban, we will establish the two dimensions of the מן, first as a test to determine if the People would follow the commands of Hashem. Secondly the מן as a training in Emuna, a training that required - on a daily basis - that the People would rely on Hashem for their basic sustenance. It was the experience of the Manna for 40 years that elevated the nation to the level of Emuna for all time, i.e. for all generations to come. The Ramban divides the verses in Chapter 16 into two parts. Although clearly the second unit identifies the complaints of Israel as a sin, and therefore the Manna is granted as a rectification of that sin, the first unit of verses relates to מן as meaningful unto itself.
