Description

The Torah devotes an entire parsha to the episode of Yaakov taking the צאן of Lavan. Was Yaakov tricking Lava to gain wealth, just as Lavan had consistently tricked Yaakov? If so, why do we mention Yaakov's actions as a merit for Klal Yisrael in our supplications on the holy day of Hoshana Rabbah? We will study the various explanations for the greatness of Yaakov in this episode.
