Was Geirus in effect from the time of Avraham Avinu or only from the time the Torah was given. We will study the insights of the Parshas Derachim - author of the Mishna LeMelech - on the issue of the status of the Avos & of Bnei Yisrael before Har Sinai. We will begin with the statement of the Gemara that Avraham observed the entire Torah. Did he do so as a full fledged Yisrael, or was he a Ben Noach who accepted upon himself extra a stringent way of life? There are many differences, not the least of which is the question of the Avos studying Torah & obseving the Shabos, things forbidden to a Ben Noach. This issue will touch on the q' of Yaakov's marrying 2 sisters. We will see that our problem has been debated throughout the generations.
