It says at the end of Parshas Noach that Terach took his whole family to the land of Kanaan. Why then does Lech Lecha start out how it does? They are already on their way? Also, why doesn't Hashem tell Avraham where he wants him to go? The Zohar answers this question by giving us a tremendous sod about Eretz Yisrael. There is a level of experiencing the land in an exterior way. This may include being there but not in an real way. The second level is where it is too deep to explain which is why Hashem said "The land that i will show to you." The longer we live in Eretz yisrael and connect to the land, the harder it is to give up the land. Its great to connect to the land on the first level, but to reach the higher level we must daven for it.
