This is the first shiur of the year long series entitled "Chassidus in the Parsha" given in Bar-Ilan University in Ramat Gan, Israel to the English speaking student community. The shiur was given l'iluy nishmas Rav Ari's grandfather, Gavriel ben Ephraim, and for the refuah shleimah of Amir Eliyahu ben Rachel This shiur briefly introduces that general style of Chassidic literature, specifically the search for a deeper meaning behind the events found in and the words written in the Torah. The shiur discusses Avraham Avinu's preparation for entering Mitzrayim - his request to have Sarah say she's his sister, and the deeper message that this entire episode contains in regards to our relationship with Hashem in exile.
