Description
We continue our study of Tos' in Berachot 15a regarding the issue of a Katan reading the Megillah on behalf of a Gadol, the controversy between Chachamin & Rebby Yehuda. This will require an anlysis of the nature of the Mitzva of Chinuch. Is this mitzva incumbent upon the father or the Katan himself? Is chinuch predicated upon the premise that a Katan is capable of a Ma'aseh Mitzvah which is recognized by the Torah itself? If so, what is the nature of this Ma'aseh? Is it the specific mitzva that the Katan performs? Or is it a general mitzva without taking on the form of any specific mitzva? We will analyze the complex view of the Rambam re: the nature of chinuch.
