For our study of Yoreh De'ah siman 87, we will address the issue of parave milk, e.g. almond milk, with chicken, is there an issue of מראית העין since the onlooker sees real milk? The great debate takes place between the Ramah & the Achronim, and we will investigate a number of approaches to explain the root of this controversy. We will analyze the nature of an Issur DeRabanan, as well as the nature & scope of מראית העין. We will establish two dimensions, two אוסרים in Maras Ayin, and the difference between the two as far as private vs. public, a healthy individual vs. a sick man. We will analyze the nature of the Derabanan of chicken & milk, is this a classical סייג, or is this an עבירה par se, i.e. a חפצא של בב"ח?
