During these days it feels like we are "crashing" into Hashems palace. We feel like that there is no way Hashem would invite us in after all that we did during this year. When someone is obligated to pay back a loan to his friend, beis din gives him an extension of 30 days to complete this payment. Elul is our extension period given to us by Hashem.
