From the Sefer 'Darchei Noam' by the current Slonimer Rebbe, we are introduced to the depth of the role chassidus plays. The Ba'al Shem Tov was sent down to this world to introduce liveliness to the way we serve Hashem. He didn't come to change anything, because its always going to be the same Torah, rather to learn and daven with a fire. He wanted the 'Klal' to thirst and long for Hashem like Dovid HaMelech.
