Very often Rebbe Nachman would tell stories about his travels to Eretz Yisrael. There are times that one can't receive a livelihood through the learning of Torah, and have to get it from somewhere else. Rebbe Nachman describes how a big part of his livelihood came from his trip to Eretz Yisrael. When Jews are outside of their land, they tend to conquer the land (sanctifying it as a Jewish Community) and establish communities outside of Eretz Yisrael is in a way like living in Eretz Yisrael. Rebbe Nachman himself is a huge chizzuk and he constantly reminds us that there is no giving up. We have to keep trying and pushing especially as Moshiach is almost here.
