Description

For Bein HaZemanim we will study the laws re: the Mitzva of living in the Succa for 7 days, found in Orach Chaim, Siman #639, and the Mishna Berurah. We will pay special attention to the status of wine as a conduit for קביעת סעודה which allows us to make Kiddush on a cup of wine, as opposed to the status of beer or another חמרא דמדינא which can be used for a כוס של ברכה. The latter has nothing to do with קביעות סעודה, in fact one cannot be קובע סעודה on beer. As long as the כוס has nothing to do with סעודה, for example a כוס לברכת אירוסין, beer can be used to enhance my beracha because of its special status as a חמרא דמדינה. We will see that regarding the mitzva of Succa only the concept of קביעות סעודה is relevant, and beer has no status.
