Description
Kibud Av obligates positive actions; Moreh Av precipitates a list of prohibited actions. In this shiur we'll focus on the prohibition against contradicting one's parent, its application & scope. We will try to reconcile this prohibition with the fact that all the giants of Torah throughout the generations, from the time of the Tanaim & up to & including our time, sons disagreed with their Fathers regarding matters of Torah & Halacha. In fact this is the very essence of the transmission of Torah via a process of question & answer, proofs and counter-proofs; the study of Torah is described as an intellectual "war" of sorts. We will look at a variety of common situations in which the Halacha requires particular care in speaking 2 one's parent.
