In our study of Masechet Berachot 14a: Tos' (beginning with the word Yamim) we will analyze the Rishonim who define the nature of Hallel on Rosh Chodesh & debate the question: does this half-Hallel משום מנהג deserve a Beracha? We will analyze the Rambam's opinion that a minhag comes under the Lav of Lo Tasur. The Rambam needs to be defended against the onslaught of the Ramban. We will compare & contrast Hallel on Rosh Chodesh with חיבוט ערבה, two minhagim one without a Beracha one with a beracha according to Rabbenu Tam. We will analyze the latter's analogy to Yom Tov Shieni where Berachot are recited despite the fact that these mitzvot are only a minhag. Why does R' Tam compare Hallel to the reading of Pesukim?
