In this Halacha shiur for parshas Matos, we will analyze the prohibition against leaving Eretz Yisrael. Is this an Issur DeOraisa or only a Derabanan? What the circumstances which permit leaving the Land? Does the prohibition apply only to one who leaves the Land permanently, or even one who leaves on a temporary basis? May one leave the Land for the mitzva of Kibud Av? For a vacation trip? To visit friends? To visit the graves of relatives or Tzadikim? What is the reason for this prohibition? Is it connected to the Mitzvos Hatluyos Ba'Aretz? Or independent of these Mitzvos, due to the kedusha of the Land? Does the Rambam accept this Issur even though he omits the mitzva of living in the Land in his Minyan Taryag?
