Description

This shiur is meant to serve as an introduction to Tvilas Kelim. We will address the following questions: What is the source in the Torah for this mitzva? Is this law a Kashrus law? What if one cooked in a pot that needs Tevila, is the food permitted? What keylim require tevila? Is this obligation Deoraisa or Derabanan? The Rambam call this a Mitzva Midivrei Sofrim. What does he mean? The differences would relate to situations of doubt, and to the status of a Katan regarding Tevilas Kelim. The requirement of Tevila in glassware is certainly Derabanan. Can we recite a bracha on Tevila of glassware? Why is Kedusha the central concept of this mitzva? Are we prohibited from using the utensil before Tevila even on a temporary basis?
