Description
For Masechet Shabbat 4a-4b, the sugya assumes the requirement of a Makom Daled al Daled for Melechet HoTza'ah, i.e. for both the עקירה והנחה. What is the basis for this premise? How does the Yad substitute for this requirement? We will present two distinct appraches based on Tos' (Rabenu Tam & the Ri) and the Ramban. Are we dealing with a universal Halacha in Meleches Shabbos, i.e. Meleches Machsheves, or a unique Halacha - a separate Gezeras HaKasuv - in Meleches Hotza'ah? We will study the case of a person who throws food into the mouth of a dog or the mouth of a furnace in order to burn the object.
