For Masechet Berachot 12b, we will study three topics: Praying for one's friend; Embarrassment as essential to Kapara; and which parsha should be chosen for the 3rd parsha of Kriat Shema?In the latter subject we will wonder if the sugya assumes that the 3rd parsha of Kriat shema is only Derabanan. Otherwise why do the Rabanan have the right to chose which parsha will be designated for the mitzva DeOraisa of Kriat Shema? The last discussion of this shiur will address the rule that enjoins one from reading half of a verse or less than a complete parsha in the Torah. We will distinguish between the mitzva of Kriat Shema and Krias HaTorah.
