Description

In this shiur on Pachad Yitzchok for Shabbos, we will analyze the fundamental concept of Oneg as a definition of Shabbos, as well as the concept of עדות as essential to Shabbos. We will study the similarity of words in Lashon HaKodesh when they share the same letters scrambled in a different arrangement. The letters Nun-Ayin-Gimmel form 2 words which represent polar opposites: the greatest Good is ענג; the worst evil is נגע. We will see the similarity between עדות and דעת. Our investigation will take us into the world of שכר מצוה, the reward in the hereafter, which splits into two: the world of תחיית המתים, and the world of עולם הבא. In #1, there is צורת האדם חיבור גוף ונפש; in #2, there is only Neshamos w.o. Guf. Oneg belongs to #1.
