For Parshas Chukas, we will address the issue of חוקים and ask the question: Can we, should we, interpret חוקים, Divine statutes? Although we cannot explain the mitzvot and and answer the question "why", i.e. why did Hashem legislate a particular mitva. Nor can we ask the question "how", meaning e.g. how the particulars of the Para Aduma achieves Tahara. We can, however, offer subjective interpretations if mitzvot. The latter are meant to enhance the fulfillment of the mitzvot by giving them meaning, making the mitzvot intellectually and emotionally engaging. The goal of the עובד אלוקים is to transform the performance of mitzvot into a profound, emotionally inspiring experience. Ta'amei HaMitzvot can go a long way towards this goal.
