Description

In this shiur we will study the Pachad Yitzchok for Shavuot. This facinating essay addresses the secret of 'NaAseh VeNishma' & how the latter transforms Klal Yisrael into Malachei HaShareis. We will speak about two mutually exclusive categories: necessities and luxuries. Necessities are defined by the anguish engendered by the denial of these. Luxuries are defined by the high level of pleasure that they bring when they are attained. Whereas the denial of luxuries need not cause anguish, the experience of receiving necessities is not accompanied by intense pleasure. Bread is not as enjoyable as wine, but the denial of bread is more intense than the absence of wine. The exception is Na'aseh Venishma: necessity & pleasure simultaneously.
