Rav Aharon of Karlin zy”a remarked, “Anyone who has emunah in Rashbi1 draws strength from Rashbi. Just as Hashem Yisbarach is God for all, so too, Rashbi is Rashbi for all – even the lowest [of Jews].” This statement, shocking even to Chasidim and students of penimiyus ha’Torah, requires much analysis. This shiur attempts to understand the process by which Rebbe Shimon became “Rashbi for all,” the unique tzaddik who would forever relate to each and every member of our holy nation.
