We continue our study of the sugya of Zemanei Kriat Shema, analyzing the time between Amud HaShachar and HaNetz Hachama. We will re-visit the opinion of Tos' and Rabbenu Tam, and move on to the apprach of the Rif. The fundamental issue is can a single period of time serve as both Yom Va'Layla? Can both Kriat Shema shel Arvis and Kriat Shema shel Shachris be fulfilled at the same time? This will require that we take meticulous care in reading the language of the Mishna in Megilla and offering an alternative interpretation to that of Rashi.
