Description

We will continue our study of the sugya in Megilla 24b regarding Birchas Kohanim. We will analyze the nature of the Mitzva of Nesias Kapayim, is this an obligation on the kohanim only or even upon the Tzibbur? Is the stance of the Kohanim and the spreading of their arms & fingers a requirement that defines the very essential ma'aseh beracha or is it a separate requirement? Why is רצה the crucial beracha for Nesias kapayim? Why is Nesias kapayim integrated into the Amidah? Is Tefilla a replacement for the korban? Is Tefilla a kiyum korban? Does Birchas kohanim create an encounter with the schechina? Would an old or sick kohen be allowed to duchan even if he cannot raise his arms on his own but rather needs to lean on something?
